In the DLNA section, ensure that “Enable the DLNA server” is checked. In the same “Server” settings we accessed in the previous section, look for “DLNA” in the sidebar and select it.
By default, Plex should have DLNA turned on, but let’s confirm just to play it safe. DLNA is an older standard that allows local devices on your network to connect to each other for media access. To play it extra, extra, safe, we’re going to tap into a great fallback system: DLNA. This isn't nearly as daunting as it sounds and involves downloading. As of this tutorial, one of the more prominent examples of this problem is the official Plex app for Apple TV-even if you set up the IP configuration like we just did, the Apple TV client freaks out if it can’t access the internet. Before you can use Plex to access your media on your other devices, you first need to set up your home server. My Android phone connects to my network via WiFi.Before we proceed, there are two very important caveats. Kodi has Ethernet remote control capability built in so I usually use an Android app on my phone (Yatse) to control the Kodi program running on my computer. My HDTV is not a smart tv, it is not connected to my network in any way, it just gets the video/audio from the computer. It plays the movies on my HDTV via an HDMI cable. My computer actually plays the movies using the Kodi media player. All that does is just share the folders and files on my network. Movies are stored on a Network Attached Storage (NAS) hard drive. Where are the movies stored that you want to play and what are you trying to play them with?
